Jet in the Telco & ISP environment
The Jet Billing System solves the problems commonly faced by Telcos, ISPs, and hosting companies of all sizes.
Flexible plan creation, customer self-care, online signup, realtime credit card payments, ease of administration, and realtime reporting are just some of the benefits that Jet can bring to your Internet services business.
Automate the billing process
Completely hands-off billing - billing runs automatically each month, customers are e-mailed notification of their invoice which can be viewed and paid online through the customer care portal. Optionally, invoices can be converted to PDFs and sent directly to customers via e-mail.
Manage customers with ease
From online customer signup to service upgrades, Jet's customer care portal facilitates hands-off customer management.
Create complex, marketing-driven service plans
Jet provides you with the flexibility to create the plans that your market wants, rather than restricting you to selling the plans that your billing system can handle.
Bill any type and combination of services
Jet doesn't restrict you to billing only a limited range of services in a tightly prescribed way. With Jet, you have the freedom to create just about any type of service that you can imagine, bundle it with other services in a way that makes sense to you, and bill in the way that best suits your business and market.
Some examples...
- Pre-paid cards which offer wireless hotspot users 10 hours' access or 500MB download data, expiring their session after whichever resource is depleted first
- Bill ADSL customers a flat monthly fee for unlimited time, 1GB data included, plus excess data billed on a reducing sliding scale based on volume
(e.g. 8¢/MB for the first 5GB excess, 6¢/MB for the next 10GB excess, 4¢/MB for any additional excess) - Provide true flat-rate access plans, triggering access speed throttling once a defined resource limit is reached (requires traffic shaping hardware such as PacketLogic.
Supports web hosting services
At its core, Jet is a rating engine and billing system. It rates units of resources, and bills them to customers. Those units can be time, Internet data downloaded/uploaded, phone calls, disk quota, web server data transfer, mailboxes, databases, photocopy cards, cans of Coke...
The list goes on.
Open platforms and standards
Jet is built on proven, open platforms and standards — Python, Zope, and MySQL — and can be deployed on Linux, FreeBSD, and Solaris platforms. Support for Oracle® databases is also available.
Access to source code
Customers who purchase the Jet Enterprise product are provided with access to application source code. This both brings peace of mind by removing "vendor lock-in", and facilitates in-house development and extension for those customers with the technical resources to undertake their own development work.
